The mixed choir OMNIA of the University of Žilina was created in 2003 through a transformation of a female choir. During its existence the choir participated in many international competitions and festivals. At the competition Academic Banská Bystrica it won a golden medal four times (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013) and the prize of Matica Slovenská for the development of Slovak interpretation art in the field of choir singing. The choir was also successful at the competition “Feasts of Songs 2006” in Bratislava and at the festival “Canti veris Praga 2010” acquired Zdeněk Lukáš award. During last three years, OMNIA won the first place in the category of mixed chamber choirs at the international competition “IFAS” in Pardubice (July 2012) and first level with prize of the jury for dramaturgy at the national competition of choral singing of adults (October 2012). The most recent award is from The World Choir Games that in 2014 took place in Riga – Latvia, where OMNIA acquired two golden medals in categories ´Mixed Chamber Choirs´ and ´Musica Sacra a cappella´. In addition to all mentioned, the choir has successfully represented Slovakia at international festivals in Poland, San Marino, Spain, Italy, France and Netherlands.
Monika Bažíková is a graduate of Mgr. art. Štefan Sedlický´s conductor class at the Žilina Conservatory and the study programme Music Education – Piano Playing at the University of Žilina. She is also a graduate of choir conducting at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica in Mgr. art. Pavel Procházka´s class and a doctor´s degree in the field of choir conducting at Akademia muzyczna in Krakow, Poland.
