The Chœur des Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc

Created more than 35 years ago by Nicolas Porte, the Chœur des Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc has forged a national and international reputation over the years. Many festivals, concerts and tours, recordings have marked his career. Among which the film “Les Choristes” to which they lent their voice.

Today a new page is being written. The Choir continues its adventure under a new identity: “LA MAÎTRISE SAINT-MARC – Les Choristes”, still placed under the direction of Nicolas Porte.

The integration of this renowned Choir is now open to all children, aged 8 to 18, attracted and passionate about choral singing, from all schools, public or private. The individualized artistic path allows everyone to find their place and to flourish.

Over the years and concerts, the choir of the Little Singers of Saint-Marc, Maîtrise Saint-Marc today has always performed with the same success on stages around the world and particularly in Asia (China, Taiwan, Korea South, Singapore, Japan, etc.), in the Middle East (Lebanon), on the African continent (Algeria, Ivory Coast), in Europe (Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, etc.) or in overseas departments (Tahiti, New Caledonia, Reunion, etc.). These are just a few examples and many are the destinations that await them today. The tours are for children an exceptional experience where music, meetings with other children, cultural discovery, exchanges, tourism are also on the agenda.

The Choir’s repertoire is very broad. At its origin, it was more oriented towards sacred music, ranging from Gregorian to the 21st century. Today, it has diversified to offer contemporary music an interesting place. Secular and popular music (songs, folklore, etc.) also has its place among the works offered in concert. And in each country, the children sing a few songs in the local language.

The Choir is regularly accompanied by orchestras of very good quality and of all styles. As they travel, the Choristers perform in front of personalities from all walks of life: Prince Charles, Queen Sofia, Barbara Hendrix…. The television sets also give them the opportunity to meet great people, in France, but also abroad.

When the choir was created, his teaching career was coupled with an international career as a choir director.

Nicolas Porte was made Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters, honorary citizen of Rocamadour and received the Medal for Music awarded by the Paris Lyon group, a medal rewarding the action taken to promote and develop choral singing. .

With the choir, he is Gold Star of the Senate for their actions in favor of the most deprived.

He also received a diamond disc (for the film Les Choristes) and a platinum disc (for a CD of the most beautiful Christmases).
