White Voices of the Nalón Valley Conservatory

The Voces Blancas del Nalón Conservatory Youth Choir is at the top of the pedagogical and educational pyramid of the Voces Blancas del Nalón.

Since its creation, the choir has participated in several choral singing events such as the Habaneras de Torrevieja Youth Competition in 2013, 2015 and 2019, the European Youth Music Festival of Neerpelt 2014, the Summer Choral Festival of Lisbon 2016, 2017 and 2019, and the International Choral Festival of Malta, in 2017,
During these events, the choristers obtained numerous prizes and mentions in recognition of their work.

In 2017, they performed in concert at the Cathedral of San Partricio in New York, as part of the “guest choir of the cathedral’s music department” program. They renewed the experience a year later, at the autumn 2018, with a concert in the magnificent Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.

Several conductors participated in the growth of the choir, such as Oscar Allen, its founder. Later Elena Camblor, Cristina Luces, Rocío Fernandez, Hanna Rubio and currently Sofia Nevado.

Throughout the history of the choir, different musical formations have formed from the group, such as:

Luzcoræ (Changing Voices Choir): youth choir, mixed voices as part of the choral educational project

Voblaninas del Conservatorio del Nalón: children’s choir, white voices of the proyecto.

The Voblana Ensemble: amateur female chamber choir, adult voices, classical and lyrical vocal training.

Today, and after this year 2020 where rehearsals and performances have been practically suspended due to health restrictions, the Choral project has had to restructure but it continues with the same objectives, with enthusiasm and work.

During the year 2021, the choir has been grouped into a single section to participate in certain events under the name of White Voices of the Conservatory of the Nalón Valley:

– 68 Neerpelt Choral Festival, May 1, 2021 (online edition)
– Nalón Valley Commonwealth Conservatory of Music Open Week, May 28, 2021
– Concert of Asturias at the Auditorium of Oviedo next to OSPA, June 23, 2021, conducted by Cesar Álvarez in the world premiere of the work of composer Javier Blanco “Asturia”
– Participation in the opera Hansel and Gretel with the OSPA conducted by maestro Nuno Coelho, December 23, 2021
