Jakarta Youth Choir (JYC) is a youth choir of DKI Jakarta which was established on 30 August 2015 and founded by Ponirin Ariadi Limbong as the Choirmaster of JYC, as well as Septo Adi Kristanto Simanjuntak who is also the Choirmaster and President of JYC. Since its inception, JYC has been an organisation supported by the Provincial Youth and Sports Office of DKI Jakarta.
The presence of the JYC in the choral movement is growing, both in Indonesia and internationally. The choir actually held its first successful concert entitled “Don’t Stop Believing” on 23 September 2017, and dozens of concerts followed.
In addition, JYC has been selected to participate in major international events, including the World Choir Games. In addition, JYC has contributed to numerous achievements in prestigious choir competitions at national and international level. One of JYC’s highlights was winning the Grand Prix with “perfect score” chin, which was a historic first at “The 34th International Chorus Inside Advent” competition in Rome, Italy, in 2018.
Under the leadership of the choir director, Septo Adi Kristanto Simanjuntak, the JYC currently has over 100 active members from diverse backgrounds residing in DKI Jakarta and the surrounding areas, who are the pride of Jakarta and Indonesia, and especially within the choral movement.
