The Santa Croce Polyphonic Choir of Sorso

The Santa Croce Polyphonic Choir is based in Sorso, Sardinia. It was officially created as a cultural and musical association in September 2009. Directed by maestro Graziano Madrau, it offers a very broad repertoire in terms of period or genre, ranging from traditional Sardinian songs, to classical polyphony and to the contemporary music repertoire.
The choir is constantly engaged in carrying out projects and concerts throughout Sardinia and has performed numerous times nationally and internationally.
It presents itself as an organ for the dissemination of the cultural and social heritage of the Sardinian territory, through the promotion of traditional music.
Among the most important experiences of the choir we can find, the participation in the XXIII Coral Quart Festival of Poblet (Valencia) in 2014; participation in important national and international choral competitions such as the 56th edition of “Seghizzi” in Gorizia in 2017; the 13th Liviu Borlan International Choral Competition in Baia Mare, Romania in 2018, where the choir received two international jury awards (media award and popular award).
In January 2011, as part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the Municipal Council of Sorso awarded the choir the title of “association of cultural interest”, requesting the Ministry of Cultural Heritage to award him the “Association of Cultural Interest” prize.
