Petit Choeur de Mondelle

The Petit Chœur de Mondelle, a mixed-voice chamber choir, was born from Stéphane Berrone’s desire to bring together musician friends to work on works of a demanding level thanks to the immense and magnificent repertoire of choral singing.
It now brings together a chamber choir of fifteen to twenty-five singers from the region (Tarn, Haute-Garonne, Lot, Gers and Aveyron). They rehearse at the Grange de Mondelle in Saint-Sulpice, a friendly gathering point where they like to meet to work and spend pleasant moments.
After three years of existence, the choir has already covered a varied and original repertoire giving pride of place to 20th century music. From Hungarian polyphonies to Spanish and Basque music via the Italian Renaissance, they discussed composers like Bardos, Monteverdi, Palestrina, Busto… and Ola Gjeilo whom they are particularly fond of.
They gave several concerts in the region – Mézens (81), Montastruc (31), Montayral festival (47), Marcilhac Abbey festival (46), Ste Cécile d’Albi Cathedral (81), Priory of Ambialet (81), Notre Dame de la Drèche (81) – and performed in Italy (2019) for a series of concerts with the Musicanova choir from Savigliano (Piedmont).
The possibilities offered to this type of ensemble are very broad: after a year 2022 rich in concerts with a repertoire dedicated to today’s American composers masterfully accompanied on the piano by Mariella Fiordaliso, in 2023 they will sing a new program entitled “War and peace” in resonance with the significant events of the war in Ukraine. With works like “La Guerre” by Janequin or “Da Pacem” by Arvo Pärt.
In September 2023 the choir will open up to additional choristers as well as vocal soloists to create the mass of St Léger by Frédéric Ledroit, Charentais composer and organist as part of the Marcilhac Abbey festival in the Lot, for Heritage Days.
