The Choir of the Medical University of Lodz was founded in March 2005 on the initiative of the Rector’s authorities. The conductor of the choir from the beginning of its existence is a well-known conductor, professor of musical arts Anna Domańska – a long-time employee of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz. Katarzyna Starosta is the president of the choir, Justyna Przytulska is the assistant conductor, and Jakub Czech is the pianist.

The members of the choir are students and employees of the Medical University, as well as its graduates, who are already working as doctors, pharmacists or paramedics.

We were connected by a common passion for music, from which we derive so much joy. Numerous rehearsals, concerts, competitions and festivals make us not only constantly develop but also create a harmonious team. All this translates into the quality and character of each of our concerts.

The Choir of the Medical University of Lodz conducts extensive concert activity both in Poland and abroad.

The choir’s repertoire is diverse and includes classical, sacred, contemporary and popular music.

Our singing resounds during all important ceremonies of the Medical University of Lodz. However, this is only part of our activity. We join charity campaigns, such as the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity or activities for various foundations. We also have numerous performances during cultural events in the city of Łódź, such as the Festival of Science, Technology and Art, “Senioralia” or scientific congresses. The audience can also listen to us at New Year’s concerts.

We are dynamic, eager to establish new contacts in the musical environment. We engage in artistic projects and, collaborating with orchestras, we realize great works of classical music like Beethoven’s IX Symphony.

Our rich repertoire, which we are constantly expanding, allows us to participate in many national and international competitions and festivals, bringing us more and more successes.

The Choir of the Medical University of Lodz had the opportunity to perform before audiences from many corners of the world – England, France, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Bulgaria, USA, Montenegro, Germany, Greece, Turkey.

Anna Domańska, Conductor

Professor of Musical Arts and Conducting. She was teacher and lecturer in Department of Art Education at the Faculty of Composition, Music Theory, Rhythm and Art Education at The Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz/Poland. She is also the conductor of the Choir of Medical University of Lodz. During a long career as Choirmaster, she led many highly awarded choirs. She made numerous concert tours to Italy, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Sweden, USA, Slovenia, Lithuania, UK, Croatia and Bulgaria. She is a juror of many national and international choral competitions, member of the Scientific Society of Lodz and member of the National Competition of Choral Art Cantio Lodziensis. Anna Domanska was awarded with the Gold Cross of Merit from the Minister of Education of Poland.
