Concours and Festival Choral International en Provence 2025
Born in 2000 as a choir of white voices, the youth group “Il Calicanto” has developed over time thanks to a work of study and growth together. The choir is now composed of singers aged between 16 and 30 years and represents the youth formation of the Association “Estro Armonico” of Salerno. The group is engaged in the national territory for cultural awareness and social aggregation through music, performing a repertoire that includes both sacred and secular polyphony, songs of pop culture and light music, songs of popular culture (Neapolitan and not) and songs of ethnic music, coming from folk traditions around the world. The choir, founded and directed by M° Silvana Noschese, has from the beginning worked 360° on the body as an instrument, following not only regularly seminars of study and in-depth on the different vocal styles and choral with Masters of Italian and foreign chorality (Acciai, Busto, Cadario, Donati, Grassi, Kuret, Monte, Paraninfo, Tabbia, etc.), but also seminars on vocal technique, psychophony, communication and group dynamics. The founding objective of the choir “Il Calicanto” is in fact to understand the voice instrument, learning that the quality of performance does not only pass through the study of music, but also by strengthening the group and the individuals within it. The group plays the role of laboratory choir for important schools of national territory (Scuola Superiore Direttori di Coro “Guido d’Arezzo”, School for choirs directors “Il respiro è già canto” of Turin), and is the beating heart of the Festival and Choral Competition “Cantagiovani” from Salerno. Over the years he has participated in various national and international festivals (“Europa Cantat”, “Praga Cantat”, “Sacrum Convivium” of Ljubljana), as well as numerous and renowned competitions such as Riva del Garda, Quartiano, Vittorio Veneto, Rimini, Matera and Lago Maggiore, Always ranking among the first places. In 2023 the choir won the section “Sacred and profane polyphony” of the XII Corale Competition “City of Fermo” and participated in the choral exhibitions “City of Bastia”, “Worlds Choral” of the Conservatory of Trento and at the International Festival of choral music “In the city of Gremi” of Sassari. 2024 is the participation in the 57th edition of the Choral Competition “Trofei Città di Vittorio Veneto”, where it obtained the second place in the category “Original Profane Polyphony d’Autore”, the third place in the category “Polyphonic singing of popular inspiration” and “Tribute to Efrem Casagrande” and the special prize for the most interesting programme offered. Of the same year is the participation in the Grand Prix and the victory of the Feniarco Prize for the best performance of a piece by an Italian author living at the 41 o National Polyphonic Competition “Guido d’Arezzo”.
Silvana Noschese, Conductor
Sociologist, music therapist, expert in psychophony, teacher of music history, choir director. Growing up in music and singing, she has always sought a way to give body and voice to the voice. He tried over the years to integrate the different experiences and skills in a project of “vocality and chorality” that put together and synthesized yoga of sound, voice and perineum, voice and sensoriality, singing and communication. He directs the mixed choir Estro Armonico, the youth choir “Il Calicanto”, the chorus of white voices of the Teatro G. Verdi in Salerno and was scientific coordinator of the “Master for music therapy operators” of the Conservatory of Salerno. Experiencing the “senses” of sound, voice and singing at any age has become one of the
his greatest passions. His musical, vocal and choral proposal is expressed in different areas: educational, artistic, personal evolution and also in prevention and therapy contexts. She leads groups of Prenatal Singing, Family Singing, Cantar… e Courses on «The senses in music» and on “Speaking in public” at schools, institutions, associations. The results of his research and intervention programmes are published in specialist books and journals. Already member of the Artistic Commission of the A.R.C.C. and the Italian National Federation of Regional Choral Associations (Fe.N.I.A.R.Co.), he is now artistic director of various choral events (Il Cantagiovani, Cori in Coro). He founded in Salerno the “Scuola di Coralità”, a proposal for choral training aimed at children, adolescents, young people, with the aim of educating to sing well, communicate well, be… be.
