Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus

Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America

The Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus (BEHC, https://www.behc-chorus.org) was established in 2000 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA by a group of choral music activists. BEHC is now a 70-member chorus with a diverse membership drawn from gifted vocalists from all walks of life.

Our mission is to showcase Chinese culture and choral arts, promote Chinese-Western cultural exchange, develop broader public knowledge and appreciation of fine Chinese and American vocal arts, all in the spirit of fun, cooperation, and harmony.

Under the inspiring leadership of our current Artistic/Music Director Ms. Ling Guo, a professionally trained musical artist and event producer, BEHC has performed frequently in concerts and charity activities in the Greater Boston area. BEHC has also attended many international festivals and competitions, including The 6th China International Choral Festival (2002), The 4th Idaho International Choral Festival (2004), Mondial Choral de Laval – Festival international de choeurs (2005), The 4th World Choir Games (2006), Vermont International Choral Festival (2008), Fundy Sound Choral Festival (2016), Budapest Music Festival (2018).

Participated In Mondial Choral Loto-Québec World Choral Competition (2009), BEHC won one gold award ( Laureate – Super-Category Adult female choir ) and two silver awards ( Laureate Second Place – Super-Category Major mixed voice choir and Laureate Second Place – Super-Category Multicultural choir). And also competing in the World Choral Festival of Adults and Seniors in Vienna (2012), BEHC took home Gold Award among 14 participating choruses.

During the height of the Covid Pandemic in 2021, BEHC produced three cloud singing events online featuring mixed voice pieces “The Moon Represents My Heart” and “The Joy of Snowflakes” as well as female voice piece “Velvet Flower” and male voice piece “Falling Leaves”. It was a unique experience when the individual recordings were synchronized/integrated digitally together with music and video and the final products were very impressive!

Not only BEHC joins music festivals around the world, it also plays key role in organizing performing art events. In 2010, BEHC successfully presented the first Greater Boston Community Choral Festival (GBCCF), a choral singing event participated by nine local American, Chinese, Japanese and Jewish choruses. GBCCF promotes diversity, supports local community and greatly enhances the cultural exchange between western and Chinese societies.
