Choir Au fil de l’Arve

In 1996, a group of friends decided to launch a choir with the main aim to perpetuate the great legacy of the traditional «mountain » and terroir songs through their group. The spread of these songs being usually communicated orally, the group wanted these to be remembered and transmitted all over the world…This is how « Au Fil de l’Arve » was born in Sallanches, Haute-Savoie, France.

Nowadays, 36 choristers splitted in four stands gather every Tuesday evening for rehearsals under the direction of Michel Gizard, the choirmaster who drives the choir with a lot of talent and kindness.

The choir is very dynamic and has performed in many places and has traveled frequently in France and abroad, and in return has received a lot of choirs in their hometown in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.

Further the trips of the choir, the repertoire has obvisously expanded through time in order to satisfy the large audience. From now on, in addition to traditional «mountain » and terroir songs, the choir has added to their repertoire some of the great works, chants in foreign languages, sometimes modern style ones…

The choir also animates its city and its surroundings with singing, but also, obviously, participates in other events (carnivals, gastronomy). When possible, the choir always says YES to participation in different events and is always ready to help. The choir is driven by the share with others and bringing joy!
