The Choir of Garwolin
The Choir of Garwolin is a Polish amateur choir under Radosław Mitura’s direction. It was established in April 2007 and consists of 23 amateur singers from Garwolin area, the town located near Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. Popularizing choral music in the local community and representing the town at various concerts, contests and festivals in Poland and abroad are the main purposes of the choir. This group gladly and actively takes part in Garwolin’s cultural life, providing musical setting during the most important cultural events.
Apart from the variety of sacred music pieces, the choir also performs patriotic
and folk songs, as well as the light music standards. In January 2008 the choir won second prize at International Festival of East Slavic Carols in Terespol. It also took part
in Festival of Choral Music in Krzemieniec, Ukraine in May 2008. The most important achievements of the choir are the following:
– The Silver Medal in the 38th International Choir Festival of Songs in Olomouc, Czech Republic in June 2010.
– The Silver Diploma in International Choir Festival – Ohrid Choir Festiwal 2011 in Macedonia
– I place during Mazovian Audition in National Festival Carols in Będzin, December 2011
– II place during the final of National Festival Carols in Będzin in Będzin, January 2012
– II place in International Choir Festival “Cançó Mediterrania” (Catalan Music category) in Lloret de Mar in Spain, September 2012

For its members, choir is not only an exceptional opportunity to improve their cultural and musical education, but also to make friends with other people from Poland and all over the world. What’s more, in spite of all hard work that is inevitable as a good choir, it can be also a great fun in a pleasant atmosphere.
