Chrudim Slavoj Mixed Choir and “Rubeš” from Skuteč
The partner choirs “Slavoj” from Chrudim and “Rubeš” from Skuteč are among the oldest choirs in the Czech Republic. Their songs have enriched the cultural life of the two towns mentioned for over 160 years.
For 20 years their activities have been linked by a common choir director, Zdeněk Kudrnka.
The friendship and close cooperation of the two choirs enable them to perform great musical works together with symphony orchestras and soloists, for example Beethoven’s Mass in C major, Vivaldi’s Gloria in D major, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater and others.
The choir’s repertoire includes compositions of all styles, including classical, sacred, folk, spiritual and popular music.
The choirs sing and also organise regional concerts, but they also regularly participate in the Tomášek and Novák a Skuteč Music Festivals, the International Song Festival in Wambeřice and choir competitions.
As part of its international activities, it visits or hosts choirs from other countries, such as France, Poland, Germany, Canada or the Netherlands.
