The Choir of “New Harmony” was founded in 1989 within the Salesian community of S. Bernardino in Chiari (BS), as a natural continuation of the “Coro des Voix Blanches”.
Currently composed of 50 young female voices, the choral group has been led and prepared since its foundation by Roberta Massetti and Maurizio Ramera. Since 2015, she has been joined by Roberta Cropelli and an artistic committee.
Until 1997, “New Harmony” was dedicated to the study and execution of the baroque and romantic repertoire, carrying out intense concert activity and collaborating with orchestral and choral groups. He also participates in the celebrations of the most important liturgical functions at the Church of Saint Bernardino in Chiari.
The meeting with the composer Domenico Maria Clapasson in 1997 led the Choir “New Harmony” to produce the compact disc “Inni” on poetic texts by David Maria Turoldo, in collaboration with the choirs “Montorfano” by Coccaglio and “Saint Andrew” from Melzo (MI). The album is presented in more than 20 places including Siena, Florence, Milan, Aosta and Oropa.
In 1999, the second compact disc “Music in complete freedom” was born, a collection of songs which had now entered popular culture arranged in an original way for the female choir.
Today, he is part of the “Little Academy of Music of Saint-Bernardino”, an institution which also includes another vocal formation, of white voices which constitute a formidable reservoir of young voices.
In 2004, the choir participated in the 43rd international Seghizzi choir competition of Gorizia, ranking second in the category with free repertoire.
In 2005, the recording “WEDDING SONGS” – wedding songs – for the solos, the female choir and the orchestra. Music by Domenico Clapasson.
In 2006, the artistic meeting with the pianists and composers Diego and Fabio Gordi made it possible to continue the project of new musical proposals. The new work, “CHORAL PIANOS”, which resulted in a record production, was presented in 2009 at the Conservatoire L. Marenzio in Brescia.
Here are the results :
– November 2009: second place at the Pienza International Choral Singing Competition;
– October 2010: first place in the National Choral Competition of Biella;
– May 2011: third place at the Vittorio Veneto National Competition in the popular song project section;
– October 2011: first place at the Riva del Garda International Competition;
– November 2011: 3rd place in the national competition of Treviglio;
– April 2014: ARGENTO Group at the Verona International Competition;
– April 2016: gold band and special prize for teaching at the Verona International Competition. It is for this reason that he was called to open the XXVIII International Competition on April 19, 2017 at the Philharmonic Theater in the Venetian capital;
– 2017 May: third prize at the Lainate Competition;
– November 2017: first prize in the CANTUS competition organized by the Province of Brescia at the Teatro Grande;
– May 2018: second place in the Vittorio Veneto National Competition in the pop-jazz-gospel category.
– April 2019: silver band at the Verona International Competition.
In September 2018, the choir was invited to participate in the international MI festival. To the Puccini room of the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
In 2003, a school of musical instruments (piano, violin, flute, guitar and drums) was opened reserved for choristers. In this way, the Academy offers a complete training process, giving young generations the opportunity to have a continuous musical experience over time, from the first years of childhood to adulthood. The educational, musical and educational intention is one of the main objectives of the institution, which is not for profit, but only those of education in beauty, the values of culture, respect for events the highest in spirit, through the intellectual pleasure of making music together.
Maurizio Ramera, Director
was born in Chiari (BS) on October 02, 1960.
He attended the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Milan and graduated in 1984.
At the same time, he follows private piano lessons and cultivates a passion for choral activity.
In 1979, within the Salesian Community of Chiari, he founded with Roberta Massetti the “PICCOLO CORO DI S. BERNARDINO” which in 2001 recorded the fable “IL GIARDINO DEL GIGANTE” with the choir, texts by Ottavio de Carli and of music by Domenico Maria Clapasson. The work was presented in Brescia at the Teatro Sociale, in Chiari, in Valle d’Aosta, in various theaters in the city and the province, acclaimed by the public and critics.
In 1989, he promoted the foundation of the “NEW CHARM HARMONY” of female voices of which he is currently the director.
In 2001, in order to coordinate the two choral activities, he was a founding member of “PICCOLA ACCADEMA DI MUSICA S. BERNARDINO”.
In 2005, he recorded the fourth CD “WEDDING SONGS” for soloists, female choir and orchestra
In 2007, he recorded the fifth CD VIAGGI OLTRE IL ILONO for instrumental ensembles and children’s choir and in 2009 the sixth CD CHORAL PIANOS for two pianos and choir of female voices.
In 2011, he contributed to the creation of the musical fable UN SOGNO DI CARTA, music and text by Andrea Nosari.
In the meantime, with the NEW HARMONY Choir of Female Voices, he obtains the following results in choral competitions:
In November 2009, second place in the international choral singing competition in Pienza, in October 2010 first place in the national choral singing competition in Biella, in May 2011 third place in the national Vittorio Veneto competition in the popular song projects section, in October 2011 first place at Riva del Garda International Competition, in November 2011 third place in the Treviglio national competition, in April 2014 the silver band at the Verona International Competition, where in 2016 it was classified Gold Medal, in April 2016 Gold medal and special prize for teaching at the Verona International Competition, in May 2017 third prize at the Lainate Competition, in November 2017 first prize at the CANTUS Competition in Brescia, in May 2018 second place at the Vittorio Veneto National Competition in the pop-jazz-gospel category, in April 2019 silver group at the Verona International Competition.
