The International Deutsche Welle Choir
The international Deutsche Welle Choir was founded in 1993 by employees of Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle. Today it has more than 40 active members from around 20 nations, with singers from outside of DW also joining in.
The choir’s program is as colorful as the national dress in which the singers perform and includes folk and art songs from all over the world. All songs are sung in the original languages. They convey the joy of different singing traditions and the unifying message of music.
DW’s International Choir regularly performs for charity in the Cologne-Bonn area. It also provides musical accompaniment for events with an international focus and fosters cultural exchange in joint concerts with other choirs. The choir has carried its message of international understanding out into the world on concert tours to Israel, Poland, the USA, Spain, Greece and the Netherlands.
