Les Vagabonds de Boisbriand

The Vagabonds de Boisbriand vocal troupe is more than a choir. It is a marriage of music and steps. All it takes is a sign from the director’s hand and everything comes to life on stage in a range of rhythms, colors and fantasies reaching all ages.

Being part of the Vagabonds troupe is a hobby that keeps us in shape. We work there in a good mood and we are surprised at the limits that we manage to exceed. We build a dream, we develop it, we nourish it and it grows. When it becomes a large bubble which is standing straight : we offer it to the public to sow a touch of madness.

The troupe’s repertoire ranges from popular Quebec and French songs. The talents of the troupe are put to good use: they present original creations.

In short, the Vagabonds are dynamic and original singers who present, each time, a show that teases and excites the senses of the spectators.

Founded in 1984 by Mr. Réal Ulrich, the vocal troupe “Les Vagabonds de Boisbriand” was under the successive direction of a dozen choir directors. Since 2006, Stéphane Leroux, one of the renowned choir directors in Quebec, has directed the troupe. He is accompanied on guitar by Jean-Frédéric Lizotte.

Since its inception, the Vagabonds have performed at various Christmas shows and concerts in various places and for different audiences. To name just a few, let’s mention the troupe’s participation in the Concerts Du Maurier in Quebec, vocal participation with the Harmonie Henri-Bourassa of Montreal-North and the Union Musicale d’Iberville.

Concerts were also given with several choirs from the region of the high and low Laurentians, including the Choir Cadence of Ste-Agathe, the choir of Laurentie in Saint-Jérôme, the Choir Harmony at the Annunciation, the Music Choir in Head of Blainville, the Vocal Alternatim ensemble of Ste-Thérèse and the choir of the Islands of St-Eustache.

For the City of Boisbriand, the Troupe regularly participates in culture days, Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebrations and to the “Beautiful Mondays of August”.

Since 2005, the vocal troupe has participated to the Mondial Choral Loto-Québec which takes place every year in the city of Laval.

The Troupe also participated to the Vasto International Choral Festival in October 2016. Then the trip continued in Italy by giving concerts in Tuscany and in Milan.

The musical pieces are mainly harmonized by the current choirmaster Stéphane Leroux.
