Concours and Festival Choral International en Provence 2025
The Shu-Te University Glee Club, established in 2013, comprises enthusiastic students from the Department of Performing Arts who share a passion for singing. Invited by the founding president and current Chairman Yuan-Hsiang Chu, the group has been under the expert guidance of Shan-Min Yu since its inception. Supported by successive department directors, the club adheres to its core philosophy of “Joyful Singing,” uniquely blending music, drama, and dance to create performances that showcase the distinctive appeal and talent of the Department of Performing Arts.
In addition to actively participating in local competitions and performances, the Shu-Te University Glee Club continues to expand its presence internationally, having been invited to music festivals and competitions in countries including Japan, Thailand, Canada, and Italy. Notably, in 2019, the club represented Taiwan at the 3rd Leonardo Da Vinci International Choral Festival in Florence, Italy, where they earned five gold medals. They secured the first-place gold medal in the Chamber Choir category, and Ms. Yu received the Best Female Singer award. Additionally, the group achieved fifth place overall among competitors from 14 nations, bringing significant honor to Taiwan in the international choral community.
Committed to continuous growth, in March 2025, the club earned two Excellence Awards and one Superior Award at the Taiwan National Music Competition Southern Regional Finals in the university choral division. Looking forward, the group eagerly anticipates participating in the Provence International Choir Competition in France during the summer of 2025, aspiring to achieve further success, experience French culture, and foster international friendships through music.
Following their performances in France, the Glee Club will participate in the closing ceremony of the Penghu International Fireworks Festival in late July 2025, showcasing their vibrant energy and diverse appeal. Such engagements not only enhance the visibility of Shu-Te University but also positively contribute to its reputation and student recruitment efforts.
