Várpalota
The Pueri Castelli de Várpalota children’s choir
The Pueri Castelli de Várpalota children’s choir (Children of the Castle) was founded in September 2012 as the city’s children’s choir. Its main goal is to bring together the young talents of Várpalota, to make them love high-quality choral singing and, no less important, to organize a joyful children’s community that transcends schools. Over the past more than 10 years, the heart has also become a worthy cultural representative of their city. Among their undisguised objectives is also that of providing relief for the Bányászkórus (Miners’ Choir) of Várpalota, which functions as the adult choir of the city.
They are regular participants in events in their city and the small region, having sung twice in Budapest at the Erkel Theater during the Song Festival, and once at the Choir Night event. They were also winners of several international choral competitions and made several trips abroad (Petroșani, Șumuleu Ciuc, Žilina, Siget in der Wart, Oberwart, Slovenia: Cerklje).
Their repertoire includes a selection from almost every era of musical history, with religious and secular works, folk music, contemporary works as well as pieces from lighter genres.
The choir directors are: Horváthné Dr. Csomó Orsolya and Kutenicsné Izer Viktória.
