Viimsi School Alumni Choir
Viimsi Kooli vilistlaskoor (Viimsi School Alumni Choir) was established in September 2018. To enrich his choir, conductor Andrus Kalvet invited former singers of the Viimsi School Youth Choir to join him. So 30 singers aged 17 to 52 came together to sing together. Subsequently, teachers from the Viimsi school also joined the choir.
The choristers are all lovers of choral music and are also bonded by the beautiful experiences they have while singing together.
Since its creation, Viimsi Kooli vilistlaskoor has performed in numerous concerts, notably at the annual charity ball of the Viimsi school, the spring and Christmas concerts of the Viimsi school but also in the parish of Viimsi.
During the summer of 2019, the choir participated in the Budapest Music Festival. In November 2019, the choir won first place in the Viimsi Popjazzfest competition, category B.
In June 2022, the choir participated in the Torun International Choral Competition “Per Musicam ad Astra” in Poland. She received the silver diploma.
The choir’s repertoire consists mainly of Estonian choral music. Some pieces are also based on folk songs arranged by the famous Estonian composer Veljo Tormis.
