Vox Annae Female Chamber Choir – Slovenia

Vox Annae Female Chamber Choir was established in the spring of 2013. The words phrase ‘vox Annae’ comes from Latin and it means ‘The voice of Anna’ or ‘Anna’s voice’. The inspiration for this name was the patron saint of the village Tunjice St. Ana. Most of our singers come from Tunjice and some come from nearby cities and villages. Many of us already have various singing background, because we used to sing in other choirs which for different reasons stopped performing. Our undying love and desire for singing and performing in various cultural events led to create a separate and completely new female vocal cast / group.

The artistic leader of our group is Aleš Sedušak. His charisma and professional expertise lures our voices into chords and harmonies that reach the hearts of numerous listeners.

So far, Vox Annae can pride itself with many successful concerts. The choir’s first appearance was in May of 2013 when we performed at the traditional meeting of singing octets and smaller vocal groups called ‘Pozdrav Mariji’ (which in Slovenian means ‘Salutation to Virgin Mary’) in Tunjice. That same year the choir also held two extremely successful Christmas concerts.

Thus far, we have successfully taken part at the annual Music Show for Adult Choirs from around Kamnik and Komenda, where we received numerous high praises. We also received the approval to compete in a regional and national singing competition.

We also co-operate with other choirs from near and far and always receive positive feedback from the listeners. We have a Christmas concert in Tunjice every year, which we then repeat in other cities, as well.

In the fall of 2015 we took part in the regional singing competition in Žalec and received a golden recognition award and the award for the best performance of a contemporary composition. This undoubtedly proves a high artistic level of the choir.
